SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Olin U. Cowser of Woodhull, who passed
4away on September 5, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Olin Cowser was born to John and Goldie
6(Hedricks) Cowser in Marceline, Missouri on February 15, 1925;
7after graduation, he moved to the Alpha area, where he did farm
8work; he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944 and joined the 82nd
9Airborne as a paratrooper, where he completed numerous jumps;
10he married Elnora Carlson in Keytesville, Missouri on December
1129, 1944; three days later, he was deployed to Europe; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Upon his return from the war, Olin Cowser joined
13with Clyde Parker in the heavy equipment excavating business,
14later becoming Cowser Construction; he owned and operated his
15business for over 50 years before stepping down from his
16bulldozer; in retirement, he enjoyed mowing every yard between
17his home and the highway; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Olin Cowser was a member of United Church of
19Woodhull; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Olin Cowser enjoyed attending family gatherings,
21spending time with his many friends over coffee or cards,

1eating his wife's wonderful cooking, and attending athletic
2events of his children, grandchildren, and
3great-grandchildren; he also enjoyed hot, sunny days and
4chocolate pie; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Olin Cowser was preceded in death by his wife of
677 years, Elnora; his parents; and his siblings, Charles,
7Richard, Lucille, and Lurene; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Olin Cowser is survived by his daughter, Barbara
9(Bill) Callanan; his sons, Daniel (Kathleen) Cowser, Jim
10(Vanya) Cowser, and Larry Cowser; his grandchildren, Ali,
11Ryan, Joshua, Deja, Bree, Kendra, Kassi, and Michael; his
12great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews;
13therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Olin U. Cowser and extend our sincere condolences to his
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Olin Cowser as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
