SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of James A. "Jim" Cummins of Eldorado,
4who passed away on May 1, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim Cummins was born to Raymond "Red" and Opal
6Cummins on August 2, 1952; he married Connie on June 8, 1974;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Jim Cummins worked as a lab manager in
9surrounding coal mines; after 40 years of service, he retired
10from coal company SGS in 2017; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jim Cummins enjoyed playing guitar, going on
12trips to the farm, and taking yearly summer vacations with his
13grandchildren; he loved spending time outdoors, and he was a
14craftsman and an outstanding woodcarver; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Jim Cummins was devoted to his wife, and their
16marriage was strong, admirable, and true; he taught his
17daughters the importance of looking up at the stars; most
18importantly, he always encouraged his family to take time and
19enjoy the little things; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Jim Cummins is survived by his wife of 48 years,

1Connie; his daughters, Carrie Jo (Jimmy) Sisk and Katie (Chad)
2Albers; his grandchildren, Kaleb (Chandler) Williams, Molly
3Williams, Jack Bruce, Tucker Bruce, and River Sisk; his
4great-granddaughters, Taylen, Stella, and Stevie Williams; his
5brother, Danny (Linda) Cummins; and several brothers-in-law,
6sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9James A. "Jim" Cummins and extend our sincere condolences to
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Jim Cummins as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
