CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT SC0014 Introduced 3/7/2024, by Sen. Terri Bryant SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED: | | | Proposes to amend the Suffrage and Elections Article of the Illinois Constitution. Provides that every United States citizen who has attained the age of 18 or any other voting age required by the United States for voting (currently voting in State elections) and who has been a permanent resident of this State for at least 30 days next preceding any election shall have the right to vote at such election. |

8 | | months after the adoption of this resolution a proposition to |
9 | | amend Section 7 of Article III of the Illinois Constitution as |

14 | | SECTION 1. VOTING QUALIFICATIONS |
15 | | Every United States citizen who has attained the age of 18 |

19 | | election shall have the right to vote at such election. The |
20 | | General Assembly by law may establish registration |
21 | | requirements and require permanent residence in an election |
22 | | district not to exceed thirty days prior to an election. The |
23 | | General Assembly by law may establish shorter residence |
