HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Jacob "Jake" Rendleman has dedicated more than
3four decades of public service to the people and concerns of
4southern Illinois in his varied roles as teacher, business
5owner, community leader, college board member, and family
6farmer; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Jacob Rendleman's most defining accomplishments
8have grown from his passion for and commitment to public
9education in Illinois; and
 
10    WHEREAS, A graduate of Southern Illinois
11University-Carbondale, Jacob Rendleman earned both a
12bachelor's degree in Agriculture and a master's degree in
13Health Education, which contributed to his lifelong passion
14for agricultural education; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Jacob Rendleman is a charter member of Beta Alpha
16of Alpha Gamma Rho, the professional-social, agriculture
17fraternity; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jacob Rendleman, a lifelong resident of southern
19Illinois, was first elected to the John A. Logan College Board
20of Trustees in 1996 and served as board chair from 2001 to 2003
21and 2013 to 2015; and

1    WHEREAS, In addition to the JALC Board of Trustees, Jacob
2Rendleman has been active with the John A. Logan College
3Foundation, serving as president from 1991 to 1994; and
 
4    WHEREAS, At the state level, Jacob Rendleman was elected
5by his peers to serve as President of the Illinois Community
6College Trustees Association from 2003 to 2004; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Jacob Rendleman was appointed to serve as the
8first trustee representative to the Illinois Community College
9Board in 2006; he subsequently earned bipartisan
10re-appointment by three different Illinois Governors until
112018; and
 
12    WHEREAS, In the summer of 2020, the John A. Logan College
13Board of Trustees voted unanimously to name the agriculture
14facility on its Carterville campus as the Jacob "Jake"
15Rendleman Laboratory in honor of his initiative and advocacy
16to create a college agriculture program; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Jacob Rendleman has been recognized by numerous
18other organizations for his support of public education;
19notably, he has received the ICCTA Meritorious Service Award,
20the ICCTA Ray Hartstein Trustee Achievement Award, and the SIU
21College of Agriculture Science Alumni Achievement Award; and

1    WHEREAS, Jacob Rendleman, his wife of 58 years, Carolyn,
2and his two daughters, Amy Schwendemann and Susan Dennison,
3have all served as public school teachers and educators;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
6HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we commend Jacob "Jake" Rendleman for his many years of
8selfless public service to the people and public education
9systems of Illinois; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to Jacob Rendleman as a symbol of our respect and
12esteem.
