SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
ILCON Art. III, Sec. 2 rep.

    Proposes to amend the Suffrage and Elections Article of the Illinois Constitution. Repeals language denying a person convicted of a felony, or otherwise under sentence in a correctional institution or jail, the right to vote until completion of his or her sentence. Effective upon being declared adopted.

CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT

 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
4HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
5SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that there shall be submitted to the
6electors of the State for adoption or rejection at the general
7election next occurring at least 6 months after the adoption
8of this resolution a proposition to amend Section 2 of Article
9III of the Illinois Constitution as follows:

SUFFRAGE AND ELECTIONS

13SECTION 2. VOTING DISQUALIFICATIONS (REPEALED)
14    A person convicted of a felony, or otherwise under
15sentence in a correctional institution or jail, shall lose the
16right to vote, which right shall be restored not later than
17upon completion of his sentence.

SCHEDULE
20    This Constitutional Amendment takes effect upon being
21declared adopted in accordance with Section 7 of the Illinois
22Constitutional Amendment Act.
