AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 82

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 82 on page 1, line
34, by replacing "Section" with "Sections"; and
 
4on page 1, line 5, after "2-3.182", by inserting "and
534-18.78"; and
 
6on page 2, immediately below line 23, by inserting the
7following:
8    "The State Board of Education shall hold hearings with
9members of the community within the school districts of the
10high schools participating in the program. The members of the
11community shall include, but are not limited to, students,
12teachers, and businesses. The hearings shall cover which
13advanced manufacturing technical skills are to be included in
14the program. The hearings shall be conducted starting before
15the program is implemented and afterward at least once every 5
16years.

1    (f) The State Board of Education shall conduct a study
2every 5 years on the advanced manufacturing technical skills
3needed in the program area. The Office of Employment and
4Training in the Department of Commerce and Economic
5Opportunity shall work with the State Board of Education in
6conducting the study. The State Board of Education shall
7incorporate into the study community feedback from the
8hearings conducted under subsection (e).

10    Sec. 34-18.78. Manufacturing programs of study.
11    (a) No later than the 2023-2024 school year, the school
12district shall implement programs of study in manufacturing in
13at least 10 of the following high schools for students in
14grades 10 through 12:
15        (1) Carver Military Academy High School.
16        (2) Harlan Community Academy High School.
17        (3) Hyde Park Academy High School.
18        (4) Kenwood Academy High School.
19        (5) King College Prep High School.
20        (6) Tilden Career Community Academy High School.
21        (7) George Washington High School.
22        (8) Crane Medical Prep High School.
23        (9) Chicago Vocational Career Academy High School.
24        (10) Jones College Prep High School.
25        (11) Richards Career Academy High School.

26    The program must offer at least 2 career and technical

1education manufacturing courses and related experiences in
2manufacturing that adequately prepare students for available
3jobs in the field of manufacturing. The program must meet the
4size, scope, and quality definition in the Perkins V State
5Plan and must include work-based learning opportunities.".
