SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert A. "Bob" Loy of Bloomington, who
4passed away on October 29, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Loy was born in Bloomington to James A. Loy
6and Wilma Jean Loy Pitzer on April 5, 1955; he graduated from
7Bloomington High School in 1973; he graduated from Illinois
8State University in 1977, where he was an All-American swimmer;
9he married Shelley Hanson in Bloomington on July 27, 1996; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Bob Loy was a teacher at Bloomington High School
11and later became the head swim coach in 1979; he received a
12number of accolades over the years, including being named the
13State Coach of the Year; he served as an instructor and swim
14coach at many local clubs and pools for over 40 years, most
15recently at Bloomington Normal Swim Club; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Bob Loy was a member of Eastview Christian Church;
17he enjoyed fishing and playing slow-pitch softball; he will be
18remembered for his love for his family, his passion for
19swimming, and his commitment to his students; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bob Loy was preceded in death by his parents; his
21stepfather, Charles Pitzer; his father-in-law, Doug Hanson;

1and his granddaughter, Seylah Crow; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Bob Loy is survived by his wife; his children,
3Alan (Tricia) Loy, Wendy (Paul) Shirias, Amber (David) Abrams,
4Patrick Reed, Sislye (Keith) Crow, Andrea (fiancé Joey Tyson)
5Soper, and Andrew Loy; his grandchildren, Grace Loy, Braden
6Loy, Natalie Loy, Dalton Abrams, Kinley Abrams, Emerson
7Shirias, Taylor Shirias, Nolan Crow, Miles Crow, Brooks Crow,
8and Sophia Tyson; his brothers, Gerald (Kathy) Loy and Steven
9(Nancy) Loy; and his mother-in-law, Andrea Hanson; therefore,
10be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Robert A. "Bob" Loy and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Bob Loy as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
