SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Harold L. Hoeferle of Normal, who passed
4away on February 2, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Harold Hoeferle was born in Akron, Ohio to Paul R.
6and Lydia E. Anderson Hoeferle on September 6, 1937; his early
7family life was spent in Keokuk, Iowa, where he attended
8school; he graduated from Southeastern Iowa Community College
9and later the University of Wisconsin Graduate School of
10Banking; he was a member of the Iowa National Guard; he married
11Nancy Horner in Keokuk, Iowa on September 24, 1960; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Harold Hoeferle pursued a career in computers at
13Shellor-Globe in Keokuk, Keystone Key and Wire in Bartonville,
14and Arnold Engineering in Marengo; in 1967, he moved to
15Bloomington to establish a computer system for People's Bank of
16Bloomington, now Commerce Bank; after successfully starting
17the data processing center in the bank, he assumed several
18other positions, including president; in 1980, he purchased
19Weaver & Associates Property Management, and in 1985, he
20changed the name to Apartment Mart; he continued his interest
21in banking and served on several bank boards through the years;
22and

1    WHEREAS, Harold Hoeferle was active in the community; he
2was a charter member of Epiphany Catholic Church, where he was
3a Eucharistic Minister for many years; he served on several
4community boards; he had a passion for golf and played a part
5in the establishment of the Links of Ireland Grove Golf Course;
6he selected the trees for the course and enjoyed watching them
7grow; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Harold Hoeferle liked gardening, planting, and a
9manicured lawn; he enjoyed sports, especially following his
10son's high school sporting events; he shared his daughter's
11love of horses and encouraged her passion; he loved to travel
12with his wife and friends and cherished those memories; for
13many years, his entire family traveled to Mexico and the
14Caribbean to enjoy snorkeling and the beach; these trips were a
15highlight in his life, as he saw his grandchildren grow to
16share his love of the ocean; family meant everything to him,
17and he treasured his long marriage; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Harold Hoeferle was preceded in death by his
19parents; his brothers, Paul L. and Gerald L. Hoeferle; and his
20brothers-in-law, Larry Horner and Dan Pope; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Harold Hoeferle is survived by his wife, Nancy;
22his daughter, Kristi L. (Jeff) Hunt; his son, Kurt L. (Ronda)
23Hoeferle; his grandchildren, Lauren and Brian Hunt and Brooke,

1Natalie, and Ryan Hoeferle; his sisters-in-law, Phyllis (Jerry
2Dulski) Hoeferle Dulski, Charlene Hoeferle, Suann (Wendell)
3Guthart, Sandra Pope, and Bonnie Horner; his brother-in-law,
4Kenneth (Pam) Horner Jr.; and several nieces and nephews;
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Harold L. Hoeferle and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Harold Hoeferle as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
