HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Kathryn L. "Kate" Conway
4on her recent installation as president of the Women's Bar
5Association of Illinois (WBAI) by Justice Thomas Kilbride,
6alongside the association's officers and Board of Directors for
72020 to 2021; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Kate Conway is a partner with the Chicago law firm
9of Power Rogers, LLP, where she represents injured people and
10their families in personal injury and wrongful death actions,
11including medical malpractice, premises liability, product
12liability, automobile, and transportation negligence cases;
13she has successfully tried cases in both state and federal
14courts; she has helped recover millions of dollars for her
15clients over the course of her career; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Every year since 2014, Kate Conway has been
17selected as an Illinois Super Lawyers Rising Star; every year
18since 2015, she has been named an Illinois Emerging Lawyer; she
19was named one of the 40 Lawyers Under 40 in the State of
20Illinois by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin in 2019, and she was
21named one of the top 10 Emerging Female Attorneys in Illinois
22in 2020; and

1    WHEREAS, Kate Conway earned her undergraduate degree at the
2University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; she earned her Juris
3Doctorate with a Certificate in Advocacy from Loyola University
4Chicago School of Law; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kate Conway is honored to join the list of
6impressive women who have led the WBAI since its inception in
71914; she is committed to continuing the important work the
8organization has done in promoting women's rights in the
9workplace and beyond; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Kate Conway's theme for the upcoming WBAI year is
11Equality Through Opportunity; alongside her fellow WBAI board
12directors, she looks forward to creating opportunities through
13legislative action, educational programming, networking
14events, community service projects, and collaboration with
15other bar associations in furtherance of the WBAI's mission to
16promote and foster and advance and protect the interests and
17welfare of women and women lawyers; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
19HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20we congratulate Kathryn L. "Kate" Conway on her installation as
21president of the Women's Bar Association of Illinois and wish
22her success in her new role; and be it further
