HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Woodridge
4Park District Commissioner and Board President Fred C. Hohnke
5Jr.; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke was a dedicated and passionate
7advocate for parks and recreation whose personal mission was to
8provide the very best of the best for the Woodridge community;
9he was elected to the Woodridge Park District Board of
10Commissioners in April 1989 and was reelected in 1995, 2001,
112007, 2013, and 2019; he served as the board's vice president
12from 1993 to 1996 and as president from 1996 until his recent
13retirement; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke received the 1998 NRPA's Citizen Board
15Member Branch National Service Award, the IAPD's 1999 Allan A.
16Weissburg Commissioner of the Year Award, and the 2004 Mike
17Cassidy Commissioner Community Service Award; most recently on
18December 3, 2019, he received the Building on Our Dream Award
19from Woodridge Mayor Gina Cunningham-Picek, the village's
20highest honor; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke's contributions to the State of
22Illinois, the Woodridge Park District, and his community will

1live on for generations to come; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Fred Hohnke was the beloved husband of the late
3Carol J. Hohnke (Dakter); the loving father of Kathryn (Al
4Granum), Fred C. III (Daisy), and James (Meredith Dehmer)
5Hohnke; the cherished grandfather of Grace Dehmer, Frederick
6IV, and Lucas Hohnke; the dear brother of Roy Sears; and the
7brother-in-law of Ron and Joyce Ruckert and Ron and Kathleen
8Dakter; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we mourn the passing of Fred C. Hohnke Jr. and extend our
12sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
13and loved him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Fred Hohnke as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
