HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Chicago Coin Club on
4the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and
 
5    WHEREAS, On February 14, 1919, the first official meeting
6of the Chicago Coin Club was called to order with 15 people and
7eight exhibits; attendees that evening could not have imagined
8that one hundred years later the minutes of that meeting would
9be viewed as such a milestone; and
 
10    WHEREAS, The Chicago Coin Club originated from a group of
11dedicated numismatists who had previously been members of the
12then-dormant Chicago Numismatic Society and American
13Numismatic Association Branch #1 (A.N.A.#1) and was
14incorporated on January 19, 1938; and
 
15    WHEREAS, For 100 years, the Chicago Coin Club has continued
16to meet, celebrating numismatics in all aspects; on January 9,
172019, they held their 1200th meeting; and
 
18    WHEREAS, The motto of the Chicago Coin Club, Docendo
19Discimus "We Learn By Teaching", is celebrated at each club
20meeting with educational presentations, club member trip
21reports, and members show-and-tell of items from their personal

1collections or recent acquisitions; and
 
2    WHEREAS, The Chicago Coin Club is one of the oldest
3numismatic clubs and is now celebrating its centennial
4anniversary with the objective "To pursue numismatic knowledge
5through the study and research of coins, currency, medals,
6tokens, and other related items and the sharing of this
7information through monthly meetings, dialogue, and the
8publication of literature; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we congratulate the Chicago Coin Club on its 100th anniversary,
12and we wish them many more wonderful years in the continued
13study and promotion of numismatics; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the Chicago Coin Club as a symbol of our respect
16and esteem.
