20 ILCS 2610/12.2

    Amends the State Police Act. Provides that the Department of State Police shall pay directly or reimburse, up to a maximum of $20,000 (rather than $10,000) the burial expenses of each State police officer who is killed in the line of duty.

1    AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The State Police Act is amended by changing
5Section 12.2 as follows:
 
6    (20 ILCS 2610/12.2)
7    Sec. 12.2. Burial benefit for State police officers killed
8in the line of duty.
9    (a) The Department of State Police shall pay directly or
10reimburse, up to a maximum of $20,000 $10,000, the burial
11expenses of each State police officer who is killed in the line
12of duty after June 30, 1997.
13    (b) The payments provided for in this Section shall be paid
14out of moneys appropriated to the Department for the personal
15services of State police officers.
16    (c) The Department of State Police shall adopt rules
17governing the administration of this Section.
