AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 822

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 822 as follows:
 
3on page 1, by replacing line 5 with the following:
4"amended by changing Sections 10 and 25 and by adding"; and
 
5on page 1, by deleting lines 18 and 19; and
 
6on page 2, by replacing lines 15 and 16 with the following:
7    ""Undesignated glucagon" means glucagon prescribed in the
8name of a school."; and
 
9by deleting line 18 on page 2 through line 14 on page 3; and
 
10on page 4, line 14, by deleting "medication"; and
 
11on page 5, by replacing lines 10 through 24 with the following:
12     "Sec. 27. Undesignated glucagon. A school may maintain a

1supply of glucagon in any secure location that is immediately
2accessible to a school nurse or a delegated care aide. A
3physician, a physician assistant who has prescriptive
4authority under Section 7.5 of the Physician Assistant Practice
5Act of 1987, or an advanced practice registered nurse who has
6prescriptive authority under Section 65-40 of the Nurse
7Practice Act may prescribe undesignated glucagon in the name of
8the school to be maintained for use when necessary. Any supply
9of undesignated glucagon must be maintained in accordance with
10the manufacturer's instructions. A school nurse or delegated
11care aide may administer undesignated glucagon if he or she is
12authorized to administer the undesignated glucagon through a
13student's diabetes care plan and if the student's prescribed
14glucagon is not available on-site or has expired. Immediately
15after the administration of undesignated glucagon, a school
16must notify the school nurse, unless the school nurse was the
17one administering the undesignated glucagon, and the student's
18parent or".
