SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Martha E. "Mari" McGinnis of Peoria, who
4passed away on November 19, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mari McGinnis was born in Washington to Benjamin
6and Sanora (Schmidt) Pfeffinger on November 6, 1938; she earned
7her bachelor's degree in education from Bradley University; she
8married C. Dirk McGinnis at the First Federated Church in
9Peoria on October 24, 1958; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Mari McGinnis worked for District 150; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Mari McGinnis was an avid member of the Pi Beta
12Phi Sorority, the PEO, the Peoria Quilt Club, and the Ivy Club;
13she was an amazing cook, an avid reader and seamstress; for
14many years, she made costumes for the Corn Stock Theatre; she
15loved the warm weather, especially in the British and United
16States Virgin Islands; she enjoyed sailing, and she and her
17family chartered sailboats all over the Caribbean for nearly 30
18years; during her retirement, she and her husband spent 31 days
19sailing, beginning on the Illinois River and ending in Tarpon
20Springs, Florida, and lived on a sailboat for nine years; she
21was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who
22dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren; and

1    WHEREAS, Mari McGinnis was preceded in death by her parents
2and her brothers, Lyle and Donald Pfeffinger; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Mari McGinnis is survived by her husband, Dirk;
4her children, Roz (Ron) Helms, Arran McGinnis, Polly (Mike)
5McNally, and Meghan (Arnel) Tejero; her grandchildren,
6quintuplets, Shannon, Bevin, Samantha, and Benjamin Helms,
7Meredith (Justin) Rager, Keegan and Colleen McNally, and
8Lilianna Tejero; her sister, Patricia Liston; and her
9sister-in-law, Jackie Kinsinger; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Martha E. "Mari" McGinnis and extend our sincere condolences to
13her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Mari McGinnis as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
