SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lawrence "Larry" Robert Wilkinson, who
4passed away on August 9, 2018 at the age of 72; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Larry Wilkinson was born to Robert and Julie
6Fitzpatrick Wilkinson on November 10, 1945; he was raised in
7Ascension parish with his five brothers; he served in the
8United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam veteran; he was
9married to Maureen McGuire Wilkinson for 51 years, and together
10they raised two children; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Larry Wilkinson co-owned Acorn Travel in River
12Forest with his wife; they acquired the agency in 2000 and
13shared "the awe and joy of visiting places around the world and
14around the corner"; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Larry Wilkinson was a member of the Khe Sahn
16Veterans, Marine Corps V Division, the Third Division, and the
17Marine Corps League; "Semper Fi Larry" joined in camaraderie
18and fellowship for the purpose of preserving traditions and
19promoting the interests of the United States Marine Corps by
20banding together with those who are now serving and those who
21have been honorably discharged to promote the ideals of
22American freedom and democracy; he was an avid reader,

1historian, listener, and traveler; he will be remembered as "a
2great guy to all"; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Larry Wilkinson was preceded in death by his
4parents; his brother, John; and his daughter, Sarah; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Larry Wilkinson is survived by his wife, Maureen;
6his son, Andrew (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Satchel,
7Lyshon, and Bronwyn; his brothers, Bob (Kathy), Jim (Gina), Tom
8(Margie), and Dan; his sister-in-law, Mary Wilkinson; his
9nephew, Rick Dassinger; his 58 nieces and nephews; and his 73
10great-nieces and great-nephews; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Lawrence "Larry" Robert Wilkinson and extend our sincere
14condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
15him; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Larry Wilkinson as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
