SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jean A. Omara, who passed away on May 23,
42018 at the age of 91; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jean Omara was born at West Suburban Hospital in
6Oak Park to Tom and Berdena Omara on May 12, 1927; she was a
7longtime resident of Oak Park, where she was raised with her
8sister, Marjorie; she graduated from Oak Park and River Forest
9High School in 1945; she then graduated from both Stephens
10College in Columbia, Missouri and DePauw University in
11Greencastle, Indiana; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jean Omara was a longtime employee of Booz Allen
13Hamilton in Chicago; upon retirement, she served as the
14associate director of the Oak Park-River Forest Chamber of
15Commerce and worked for Pilgrim Realty; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jean Omara was a faithful and devoted member of
17the Episcopal Church in River Forest and a member of the
18Episcopal Church Women; she was committed to the Oak Park River
19Forest Community, which included many years of service to West
20Suburban Hospital and Zonta International; in her later years,
21she lived at the Beacon Hill Retirement Center in Lombard; she
22was kind and generous; her final wish was to donate her brain

1to Rush Memory Clinic for scientific research toward finding a
2cure for Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Jean Omara was preceded in death by her adored
4sister, Marjorie (the late Bob) Maxwell; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jean Omara is survived by her nephew, Tom
6(Deborah) Maxwell; her great-niece, Kathleen Maxwell; her
7cousin, Virginia (Walter) Bell, and their children and
8grandchildren; and Susan (Richard) Conrad; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Jean A. Omara and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
12friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Jean Omara as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
