SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of G. Guffie Jones of Chicago, who passed
4away on October 18, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, G. Guffie Jones was born in Uniontown, Alabama on
6January 19, 1939; he was raised by his mother, Julia Graves,
7his stepfather, Robert Graves, and his grandmother, Lethle
8Larkin; he was educated in Uniontown, Alabama and at Dunbar
9High School in Mobile, Alabama; and
 
10    WHEREAS, G. Guffie Jones moved to Chicago, where he worked
11various jobs; he later started his own company and was an
12accomplished electrician, builder, and handyman; and
 
13    WHEREAS, G. Guffie Jones enjoyed working with his hands,
14traveling, reading, and attending family gatherings; he loved
15his family and was very proud of his children, grandchildren,
16and great-grandchildren; and
 
17    WHEREAS, G. Guffie Jones was preceded in death by his
18mother; his stepfather; and his grandmother; and
 
19    WHEREAS, G. Guffie Jones is survived by his daughters with
20his soul mate Carrie Robinson, Sharon (Leo) Webster, and

1Rochell (Wynn) Patterson; his four grandchildren; his eight
2great-grandchildren; his brother, Burnest (Benedicta) Graves;
3his sister, Barbara Jean (James) Hollins; his cousins, Madison
4Larkin Jr., Willie (Tammy) Larkin Sr., Michael (Metra) Larkin,
5Tina Graves, and Cohann Larkin; and his many cousins, nieces,
6nephews, and friends; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9G. Guffie Jones and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of G. Guffie Jones as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
