SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Barbara L. Wyman, who passed away on
4September 11, 2018 at the age of 90; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Barbara Wyman was born in Detroit, Michigan to
6Bernard and Phyllis Kuhn on July 13, 1928; she was raised with
7four brothers and one sister; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Barbara Wyman and her family moved to Oak Park in
91964, where they became dedicated members of Ascension Parish
10and the Oak Park community; she was a woman of deep faith who
11dedicated her life to different ministries and causes and
12believed in creating a more just and peaceful world; an
13advocate of social justice, she was an early champion of the
14Christian Family Movement and the PADS Program, now Housing
15Forward; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Barbara Wyman believed her most important role was
17as a parent; she was known for her welcoming friendship, gentle
18strength, and lovely smile; additionally, she was a strong
19advocate for all children, including those needing a loving
20home; many of those children lived with the Wyman family at
21times; and

1    WHEREAS, Barbara Wyman fought through 15 years of
2Alzheimer's disease and found her greatest joy in her husband,
3Doug, the love of her life; together, they created an
4extraordinary example of the power of unconditional love; she
5and her family were deeply grateful for the skilled and
6dedicated caregivers who accompanied her throughout this
7journey; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Barbara Wyman was preceded in death by her
9parents; her brothers, Bernard and John Kuhn; and her sister,
10Kay Kuhn; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Barbara Wyman is survived by her loving husband,
12Doug; her children, David (Danita), Larry (the late Laura),
13Mark, Jim (Joy), Mary (Bruce Corson), Ann (Dale Amtower), Joe
14(Katy), John, and Gerald (Krista) Wyman; her brothers, Leo
15(Marlene) and George (Betty) Kuhn; and her sister-in-law, Elide
16Kuhn; her grandchildren, Melissa, Alisha, Amanda, Chris,
17Dylan, Nick, Samantha, Daniel, Kathleen, Mila, Tesla, Terry,
18Sophie, and Paul; her 14 great-grandchildren; and her nieces,
19nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, godchildren, and
20friends; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
22ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
23Barbara L. Wyman and extend our sincere condolences to her
