SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Herbert Casper Spahn of Moline, who
4passed away on September 10, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Herbert Spahn was born in Chicago to Jacob and
6Elizabeth (Dietzel) Stahl on November 6, 1917; he was raised by
7his mother and stepfather, Albert Spahn; he married Nellie
8Johnson in Moline on December 31, 1938; he served in the United
9States Navy During World War II; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Herbert Spahn worked as a machinist at
11International Harvester East Moline Works for 37 years and
12retired in 1978; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Herbert Spahn was active in the Masonic
14Fraternity, where he was a longtime member of the Moline Lodge
151014, AF & AM, now Doric Lodge 319; he was also a member of the
16Valley of Moline Scottish Rite, the Kaaba Shrine, the Zal
17Grotto, and the Moline Chapter 258 of the Order of the Eastern
18Star; he also belonged to the American Legion Post 569 in
19Milan; he was passionate about vegetable gardening; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Herbert Spahn was preceded in death by his wife,
21Nellie; his brothers, Richard, Ernest, and Victor Spahn; and

1his great-grandson; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Herbert Spahn is survived by his children, Gary
3(Sandra) Spahn and Daniel (Marilee) Spahn; his grandchildren,
4Brian (Kim) Spahn, Jonette (Clay) Gilley, Luanne (Dan) Wise,
5and Sonnet Busen Green and Brady Green; his four
6great-grandchildren; and his great-great-grandchild;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Herbert Casper Spahn and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Herbert Spahn as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
