SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert R. "Bob" Bigford of Rock Island,
4who passed away on September 17, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Bigford was born in Moline to Ray and Susan
6Cloyd Bigford on May 12, 1937; he graduated from Alleman High
7School in 1956 and married Louise M. De Pooter in Moline on
8February 7, 1959; he served in the U.S. Army National Guard and
9Army Reserve; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Bob Bigford was employed with Oscar Mayer for 37
11years; he also served on the Rock Island County Board for 15
12years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bob Bigford was a member of the St. Ambrose
14Catholic Church in Milan, where he was a former Eucharistic
15Minister and usher; he was a member and past Grand Knight of
16St. Ambrose Knights of Columbus; his other memberships included
17the Milan American Legion, the Viking Club, and the Friends
18Circle as a Golden Member; he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and
19being with family and friends; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bob Bigford was recognized as a Community Hero by
21the John Deere Classic in 2017 for his many decades of

1volunteer service with the John Deere Classic, his church, area
2organizations, and his support of Special Persons Encounter
3Christ; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Bob Bigford was preceded in death by his parents
5and his son-in-law, Jack Prouty; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bob Bigford is survived by his wife, Louise; his
7children, Robert (Michelle) Bigford, Valerie Prouty, Karen
8(Steve) Goff, Jessica (Russ) Adamson, and Sergeant First Class
9Bradley (Becky) Bigford; 11 grandchildren; eight
10great-grandchildren; his sisters, Jackie Caudill and Ruth
11Sarley; and many nieces, nephews, and additional family
12members; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Robert R. "Bob" Bigford and extend our sincere condolences to
16his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Bob Bigford as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
