SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Anita R. "Donnie" Chiero, who passed away
4on October 13, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donnie Chiero was born in Chicago to Gaetano Bondi
6and Josephine Sansone on February 20, 1930; she was the
7youngest of eight children; she married Joseph A. Chiero in
8Chicago on December 27, 1952; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Prior to her marriage, Donnie Chiero worked in the
10clerical division of Sears, Roebuck and Company in Chicago; in
112010, she retired from Cook County, where she worked as a
12crossing guard for 20 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Donnie Chiero raised her family in Oak Park, where
14she was a longtime member of the St. Giles Family Mass
15Community and active in many other organizations; after the
16death of her husband in 1982, she embarked on a journey through
17the remainder of her life, and she helped raise her
18grandchildren, volunteered at St. Isaac Jogues in Des Plaines,
19and worked several part-time jobs; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Donnie Chiero later moved to The British Home in
21Brookfield, where she had many friends and enjoyed the myriad

1of activities offered; she was a devoted mother and fond
2grandmother; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Donnie Chiero was preceded in death by her
4husband, Joseph; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donnie Chiero is survived by her children, Jolyn
6Crawford, Laura Perna, and David (Barbara) Chiero; her
7grandchildren, Lea, Lisa, Michael, Anthony, Joe, Josh, and
8Noah; and her great-grandchildren, Tom, Jake, Jenna, and
9Nathan; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Anita R. "Donnie" Chiero and extend our sincere condolences to
13her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Donnie Chiero as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
