SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Diane Edith Romnes-Smith, who passed away
4on August 16, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Diane Romnes-Smith was born in Chicago to Arne F.
6and Edith E. (Reiners) Romnes on April 6, 1938; she graduated
7from Evanston Township High School in 1956; she attended Albion
8College and graduated from Northwestern University in 1983 with
9a degree in human resources; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Diane Romnes-Smith was employed as a human
11resource manager with Kraft Foods and Deerbrook Bank; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Diane Romnes-Smith spent time living in Illinois,
13Arizona, and Wisconsin; she loved spending time with her family
14and friends; she was an avid dog lover and she enjoyed
15traveling to the Gulf of Mexico and the Arizona mountains; she
16taught Sunday school and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs
17and St. Louis Cardinals; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Diane Romnes-Smith was preceded in death by her
19parents; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Diane Romnes-Smith is survived by her children,

1Philip (Michelle) Smith, Jeff (Jeanette) Smith, and Katherine
2"Kadi" Smith-Joyce; her grandchildren, Joshua, Jacquelyn, and
3Celeste and Christian, Seth, Jared, Barton, and Paul; her
4cousins, Nancy (Watkins) Davis and Ron Watkins; and numerous
5other family members; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Diane Edith Romnes-Smith, and extend our sincere condolences to
9her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Diane Romnes-Smith as an expression
13of our deepest sympathy.
