SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Larry John Osterhagen of Milan, who
4passed away on August 21, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Larry Osterhagen was born in Melbourne, Iowa to
6William August and Patience Irene Swihart Osterhagen on May 18,
71935; he served in the U.S. Marines from 1954 to 1957 and
8married Barbara Shradar on February 14, 1958; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Larry Osterhagen worked for Ozark Airlines in
10Moline; when TWA took over, his job moved to Cedar Rapids and
11eventually to St. Louis; he worked for the airlines from 1957
12to 1998; upon retirement, he held several part-time jobs, most
13recently for LuJack's Car Dealership in Davenport; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Larry Osterhagen enjoyed helping others and being
15a part of the community; he helped organize the Milan Girl's
16Softball Association; he was a blood donor for numerous years
17and became an organ donor in 1964 when he donated a kidney to
18his sister; he had a variety of interests that included black
19powder shooting, hunting, collecting coins, and bowling; he was
20a member of the Rock River Rangers and the Milan Men's Bowling
21League; he was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and the St. Louis
22Cardinals; he enjoyed watching NASCAR; and

1    WHEREAS, Larry Osterhagen was preceded in death by his
2parents; three sisters; and one brother; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Larry Osterhagen is survived by his wife of 60
4years, Barbara Osterhagen; her daughter and her partner, Diane
5and Kathie Barry; his beautiful twin granddaughters, Kadi and
6Jodi; his sister-in-law, Audrey Osterhagen; and numerous other
7family members and friends; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Larry John Osterhagen, and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Larry Osterhagen as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
