SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Luis Carlos Castillo, who passed away on
4July 30, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Luis Castillo was born in Villavicencio, Colombia
6to Mercedes Varela and Carlos Julio Castillo on May 13, 1956;
7he married Gilma Perez in Bogota, Colombia on December 8, 1983;
8he immigrated with his young family and mother to the United
9States in 1988; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Luis Castillo worked in landscaping and
11maintenance at the Oakbrook Center for 27 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Luis Castillo was a member of Service Employees
13International Union (SEIU) Local #1; he was a parishioner at
14the Cathedral of St. Raymond for nearly 30 years; he was a
15self-taught mechanic and enjoyed nature and flowers; he was a
16devoted family man who achieved the American Dream; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Luis Castillo was preceded in death by his
18parents; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Luis Castillo is survived by his wife of 34 years,
20Gilma; his daughters, Maria Catalina (Trevor) Merrick and Liza

1Tatiana Castillo; his granddaughter, Charlotte Olivia Merrick;
2his sister, Martha Castillo Bates; and his niece, Cathleen
3(Todd) Wheeler; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Luis Carlos Castillo, and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Luis Castillo as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
