2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Michael E. Foss of Colona, who passed
4away on August 14, 2018; and
5    WHEREAS, Michael Foss was born in Moline to Earling and
6Mary Alice (Woolley) Foss on September 15, 1945; he served in
7the United States Navy aboard the USS Stallion; he married
8Joann Howlett in East Moline on June 13, 1965; and
9    WHEREAS, Michael Foss was employed as a machine repairman
10for John Deere Co.; and
11    WHEREAS, Michael Foss was an active Master Mason in Clement
12Lodge #680 and Silvis Lodge #898, where he was joined by his
13son and three grandsons; he enjoyed cooking, gardening, street
14rods, bicycling, eating breakfast with friends and family, and
15traveling, especially to Las Vegas with Joann; and
16    WHEREAS, Michael Foss was preceded in death by his parents
17and his three brothers; and
18    WHEREAS, Michael Foss is survived by his wife, Joann, his
19daughters, Penny (David) Lasche, Pamela (Jeff) Beckner,
20Patricia Keith, and Peggy Knaack; his son, Michael Foss Jr.;

1his ten grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren; and his
2dogs, Pumpkin and Yoda; therefore, be it
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Michael E. Foss and extend our sincere condolences to his
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Michael Foss as an expression of our
10deepest sympathy.
