SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of F. Steven "Steve" Etheridge of Moline,
4who passed away on August 12, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Steve Etheridge was born in Moline to Floyd S. and
6Ida (Mattson) Etheridge on November 18, 1951; he served in the
7U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and married Susan Prior
8in Mt. Vernon on June 22, 1985; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Steve Etheridge began his career with the Moline
10Police Department on June 16, 1975; he was selected as the
11Moline Police Chief on October 7, 1990; he was instrumental in
12the building of the new Moline Police Department; he served as
13Interim City of Moline Administrator; he retired as the Public
14Safety Director for Moline on March 2, 2005, where he served as
15the inaugural, combined Police Chief, and Fire Chief; he was a
16member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and
17graduated from the FBI National Academy; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Steve Etheridge volunteered at the "Grunt Dome"
19with the John Deere Classic Golf Tournament; he met daily with
20his Panera Cronies Breakfast Club; he was an avid golfer,
21fisherman, and "Mr. Fix-It"; most important was his family and
22the time he cherished with his grandchildren; he was a member

1of the Moline Jaycees; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Steve Etheridge was preceded in death by his
3father-in-law, Jerry Peterson, and his niece, Krista Ryser; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Steve Etheridge is survived by his wife, Susan;
5his children, Melissa (Chad) Wilke, Marcey (Jason) Millage, and
6Steven (Hanna) Etheridge; his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Grant,
7Graysyn, Tatum, Braydon, Mia, and Stella; his mother-in-law,
8Marlene Peterson; his sisters, Belinda (Tom) Charleton and
9Carol (James) Dolian; his brother-in-law, Michael (Fran)
10Thibodeaux; his sister-in-law, Karen (George) Miklas; many
11loving nieces and nephews; and the best neighbors ever, Todd
12and Sue Rosenthal and their children, Keeley and Ryan;
13therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16F. Steven "Steve" Etheridge, and extend our sincere condolences
17to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
18it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Steve Etheridge as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
