SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert "Bob" James Wescott Tirk of
4Woodstock, who passed away on July 3, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Tirk was born in Boston, Massachusetts to
6James and Marguerite (Greb) Wescott on May 29, 1943; after his
7father's death, while serving in the Coast Guard during World
8War II, his mother married Richard "Dick" E. Tirk, and at age
9four, Bob was adopted by Dick; he grew up in New York and
10graduated from Briarcliff High School; he was one of many
11family members to attend Lawrence University, where he majored
12in music education; he married fellow music student Ann Uber in
13Hartford, Wisconsin on June 19, 1965; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Bob Tirk taught in McHenry County, where he served
15as a music educator in Huntley, Woodstock, and Marengo for 29
16years; he and his wife lived on farms in Woodstock and raised
17pigs, chickens, and got into the hay baling business; in
18Marengo, he took his band students on many adventures,
19including trips to California, Florida, and Churchill,
20Manitoba; after retirement, he continued to teach part time and
21worked for the Marengo Park District, where he created the
22"Summer with the Arts" program and helped to build the town
23pool; and

1    WHEREAS, Bob Tirk enjoyed many hobbies, including ham
2radio, model railroading, family history, National Park stamp
3collecting, bee keeping, and serving as a den mother for his
4son's Cub Scout Pack; he loved any opportunity to gather with
5family and friends; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bob Tirk is survived by his wife, Ann; his
7daughter, Liz (Brian) Yanoff; his son, Richard (Suzanne) Tirk;
8his brother, Kirby (Veronica) Tirk; and his grandchildren,
9Eliana and Jacob Yanoff and Simon and Malia Tirk; therefore, be
10it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Robert "Bob" James Wescott Tirk and extend our sincere
14condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
15him; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Bob Tirk as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
