SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert Adolf "Bob" Boens of Coal Valley,
4who passed away on June 28, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Boens was born in Moline to Gustaf and Martha
6(Rydell) Boens on October 14, 1932; he grew up farming with his
7brothers; he served in the United States Army for two years
8before marrying Cleo Greenwood in Milan on April 27, 1957; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bob Boens was employed in the product development
10and engineering research division at Deere and Company for 28
11years; he retired as a supervisor from the John Deere Technical
12Center; he went on to farm on a full-time basis for another 30
13years and harvested his final crop at the age of 84; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Bob Boens was a lifelong member of St. Ambrose
15Catholic Church, but he also attended First Presbyterian Church
16in Coal Valley with his wife; he was most comfortable when
17repairing farm equipment or working in the field; he never met
18a piece of machinery he could not fix; he took great pleasure
19in standing and looking out over a growing crop; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bob Boens was preceded in death by his brothers,
21Richard and Harold "Bud" Boens; and

1    WHEREAS, Bud Boens is survived by his wife, Cleo; his
2children, Lonie Boens and Mark (Beth) Boens; his granddaughter,
3Ashley Boens; his sisters-in-law, Rosalee and Donna Boens; and
4his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Robert Adolf "Bob" Boens and extend our sincere condolences to
8his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Bob Boens as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
