SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John J. Horeled of Crystal Lake, who
4passed away on May 3, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Horeled was born in Harvard to Joseph and
6Helen (Keeley) Horeled on November 1, 1951; he graduated from
7Marion Central High School in 1969 and the University of Notre
8Dame with a degree in economics in 1973; he then graduated from
9the Valparaiso University School of Law in 1976; he married
10Heather McLeod on June 11, 1977; and
 
11    WHEREAS, John Horeled practiced law in McHenry County for
12over 42 years; he was involved in the Illinois State Bar
13Association for 40 years and with several section councils and
14task forces; and
 
15    WHEREAS, John Horeled was a former director of the Hebron
16State Bank and the Illinois Guardianship Association; he was a
17former vestry member and senior warden of St. Mary's Episcopal
18Church in Crystal Lake; he was a past president of the Notre
19Dame Club of McHenry County, the YMCA of McHenry County, the
20Crystal Lake Kiwanis, and was the founding president of the
21McHenry County Community Foundation; he was a proud member of
22the Union League Club of Chicago and the Bohemian Lawyers

1Association of Chicago; and
 
2    WHEREAS, John Horeled enjoyed spending time with his family
3and was a devoted father and grandfather, who was
4affectionately known as "Papa"; he coached 17 years of soccer
5and attended numerous artistic performances and far too many
6track and cross country meets to count; he was an avid fan of
7the Chicago White Sox; he enjoyed attending church, performing
8community service, and following college football; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John Horeled is survived by his wife of over 40
10years, Heather; his children, Matthew (Anna), Julia (Kevin)
11Mick, and Joshua (Karalyn); his grandchildren, Elijah, Isaac,
12Torunn, and Nathan; and his many cousins; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15John J. Horeled, and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of John Horeled as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
