SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Michael W. "Mike" Beaty of Groveland, who
4passed away on May 16, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mike Beaty was born to Keith and Adelaide
6"Peaches" (Fisk) Beaty on March 25, 1947; he was baptized and
7confirmed at St. Patrick's Catholic Church; he graduated from
8Lewistown Community High School and Western Illinois
9University; he married Katherine Workman in 1970; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Mike Beaty worked for nearly 20 years as a
11successful agent for Fidelity Union Life Insurance Company and
12then Country Companies; he later worked as executive director
13of the Macomb Area Industrial Development Corporation (MAIDCO)
14and was especially proud of his efforts to help secure the
15expansion of NTN Bower and attracting the St. Louis Rams summer
16training camp to Macomb; he also worked as Downstate District
17Field Liaison and Assistant to the Chief of Staff for the
18Illinois Secretary of State, Division Administrator for
19Natural Resources Division of the Illinois Department of
20Agriculture, and in the Department of Natural Resources before
21his retirement; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Mike Beaty was an active member of the Macomb

1Rotary, Macomb Ducks Unlimited, and the Macomb Country Club;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, Mike Beaty enjoyed reading, traveling, and
4nature; he was an avid hunter of waterfowl and pheasant and for
5many years was a licensed goose guide at the Marlin Hunting
6Club in Southern Illinois; he co-founded the Macomb Chapter of
7Ducks Unlimited; he appreciated all sports, but was especially
8passionate about baseball and played the position of catcher
9through college; later, he played in the Peoria Sunday Morning
10League; he was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed watching
11the Cubs win the 2016 World Series; he also enjoyed wintering
12in Florida, where he attended as many spring training games as
13possible; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Mike Beaty took great pride in his children and
15grandchildren and was exceptionally proud of how they treated
16others; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Mike Beaty was preceded in death by his parents
18and his brother, Thomas Patrick "Pat" Beaty; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mike Beaty is survived by his wife, Katherine; his
20daughter, Andrea (Brian) Miller; his son, Christopher (Raleigh
21Blasdell) Beaty; his grandchildren, Anika, Claire, and Connor
22Miller; his sisters-in-law, Jane Beaty and Mary Dufelmeier (Ken

1Petersen); three nieces; and one nephew; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4Michael W. Beaty, and extend our sincere condolences to his
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Mike Beaty as an expression of our
9deepest sympathy.
