SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dr. N.V.R. Raju of Crystal Lake, who
4passed away on October 22, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Raju was born in India to N.V.A.N. Raju and
6Suryakanthamma (Penumetsa) Raju on May 30, 1949; the oldest of
7four children, he excelled both academically at Andhra Medical
8College in his hometown of Vizag, as well as athletically on
9the cricket field, where he played for both his university and
10the Ranji Trophy; and
 
11    WHEREAS, After graduating from medical school in India, Dr.
12Raju came to the United States, where he completed his
13residency in Internal Medicine at the Illinois Masonic Medical
14Center in Chicago, and his fellowship in Cardiology at the
15Cleveland Clinic; he practiced as an interventional
16cardiologist at Centegra Hospital-McHenry (formerly Northern
17Illinois Medical Center) and Centegra Hospital-Woodstock
18(formerly Memorial Hospital, Woodstock) for over 30 years; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Throughout his career, patients were his passion,
20and work was his enjoyment; he touched many hearts with his
21compassion and treated many cardiac aliments with his clinical
22skills; he was active, not only in the local community, but

1also in the hospital administration, where he served on many
2committees; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Dr. Raju enjoyed spending time with his family and
4friends; he treasured the moments he spent with his
5grandchildren the most; he will remain in their hearts forever;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dr. Raju was preceded in death by his father; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Dr. Raju is survived by his wife, Rama Devi; his
9sons, Mahesh (Priya), Bharat (Angela), and Pradeep (Jenna); his
10grandchildren, Sahana, Ilina, Dhilan, Riyan, Karsin, Kaia, and
11Avaanya; his mother in India; his brother; and his two sisters;
12therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Dr. N.V.R. Raju and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Dr. Raju as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
