SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Virginia Taglia, who passed away on July
414, 2017, at the age of 86; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Virginia Taglia was born to Harold and Emma
6(Steiner) Jensen on April 9, 1931 in Oak Park, where she spent
7her formative years; she attended St. Giles Grade School and
8graduated from Trinity High School in 1949; she went on to earn
9a degree in occupational therapy from St. Catherine University
10in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1953; she married Victor R. Taglia on
11October 13, 1956 and they raised their family in Oak Park,
12where her children and some of her grandchildren also attended
13St. Giles School; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Virginia Taglia worked at the Edward Hines Jr.
15Veterans Administration Hospital; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Virginia Taglia was known for being an avid
17volunteer, a lover of animals, and a great parent; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Virginia Taglia and her husband were generous
19benefactors of the Lisle Benedictine Women and the Sacred Heart
20Monastery; she was a member of the Share Foundation with the
21Handicapped Founder's Club; and

1    WHEREAS, In 2008, Virginia Taglia moved to the Villa St.
2Benedict Independent Living Community, where she was known to
3be a true lady with one of the sweetest smiles who was always
4concerned about others; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Virginia Taglia was preceded in death by her
6parents and her husband, Victor; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Virginia Taglia is survived by her daughter,
8Regina (Dan) Howe; her sons, Thomas (Jackie) and James (Anneke)
9Taglia; and her grandchildren, Victoria and Annika Helle,
10Victor "Duke", Anthony, Vincent, Virginia, Jean, Elyse, and
11Dominic Taglia, and Oliver and Eliot Howe; she was the fond
12sister of the late Robert (Joan) Jensen and the late Donald
13(Mary) Jensen; the devoted sister-in-law of Florence (the late
14Buddy) Romano; and aunt, great-aunt, friend, and cousin to
15many, including Patricia Ulman; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Virginia Taglia, and extend our sincere condolences to her
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
