SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Anne E. DeDobbelaere of Elgin, who passed
4away on October 24, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Anne DeDobbelaere was born in Elgin to Bob and
6Maureen (Sullivan) DeDobbelaere on March 17, 1960; she
7graduated from the Bartlett Learning Center in 1981; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Anne DeDobbelaere worked as a bagger at
9Jewel-Osco, where she never missed a day of work in 28 years;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Anne DeDobbelaere was a decorated Special
12Olympics athlete; she started track and field at age nine and
13competed in the 1979 Special Olympics World Summer Games when
14she was 18; she won a gold medal, two silver medals, and a
15bronze medal in cross-country skiing at the 2001 World Winter
16Games in Alaska; she amassed hundreds of medals for competing
17in basketball, volleyball, aquatics, rhythmic gymnastics,
18softball, and cross-country skiing at national and
19international events; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Anne DeDobbelaere was the Grand Marshall of the
21Elgin 4th of July parade in 2001; she was the recipient of the

1Outstanding Achievement Award from the Elgin Sports Hall of
2Fame; she attended Sunday services with her parents at St.
3Thomas More Catholic Church; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Anne DeDobbelaere enjoyed sports and loved to be
5on the team; she will be remembered for her fierce
6competitiveness, work ethic, and outgoing personality; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Anne DeDobbelaere is survived by her parents; her
8siblings, Tim (Luz), Jay, Matt (Joan), and Joe (Joni); and her
9nephews and niece, Ryan, Jack, Adam, Max, Kevin, Will, Sammy,
10and Meg; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Anne E. DeDobbelaere and extend our sincere condolences to her
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Anne DeDobbelaere as an expression
18of our deepest sympathy.
