SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dr. Edward P. "Ed" Glover of Brimfield,
4who passed away on October 23, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Glover was born in St. Louis to Thomas Edward
6and Emma Louise (Ameiss) Glover on February 2, 1931; he
7attended Shurtliff College and graduated from Logan
8Chiropractic College in February of 1953; he received his
9post-graduate education in roentgenology, acupuncture, and
10orthopedics; he married Rosalie Virginia Brown in St. Louis on
11August 26, 1950; he married Jane Sauerwein in Brimfield on
12November 9, 2014; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dr. Glover was licensed in Florida in 1953, where
14he practiced for over two years; in 1956, he continued his
15practice in Peoria, until his retirement in 2006; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Dr. Glover was a charter member of the American
17Chiropractic Association and a member of the Illinois
18Chiropractic Society Board of Directors since 1975, where he
19served as secretary and vice president; he also served as
20president of the Illinois Chiropractic Society in 1989 and was
21a member of the Council of Roentgenology of A.C.A.; and

1    WHEREAS, In 1975, Dr. Glover was appointed by Governor Dan
2Walker to the Illinois State Health Coordinating Council
3(SHCC), the first, and at that time, the only chiropractor to
4serve that agency; he was re-appointed by Governor James
5Thompson from 1978 to 1981; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dr. Glover was awarded an honorary Doctor of
7Humanities from Logan Chiropractic College in 1972; he attended
8the First International Symposium on Spinal Manipulation in
91979; in 1982, he was named Logan College Alumnus of the year;
10he was elected to the board of trustees of Logan College in
111984 and re-elected in 1987, 1990, and 1994; he received the
12Chiropractic Physician of the Year in 1993 from the Illinois
13Chiropractic Society; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Dr. Glover was active in his community; he was a
15member of the Suburban Kiwanis Club since 1956, serving as
16president in 1969; he was lieutenant governor of Div. 20 of the
17Illinois-Eastern Iowa District of Kiwanis from 1970 to 1971 and
18continued with the Downtown Kiwanis; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Dr. Glover was a founding member of Redeemer
20Lutheran Church since 1956, where he served on numerous boards,
21sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and was president of
22the congregation; he and his wife later attended St. Paul
23Lutheran Church in Brimfield; and

1    WHEREAS, Dr. Glover was a Peoria District 150 School Board
2member from 1973 through 1983, serving as vice president and
3president; he was chairman of the City of Peoria Heart Fund in
41982; he was a member of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce
5since 1982; he was on the board of directors for Big Brothers
6Big Sisters and was appointed by the mayor in 1985 for a
7five-year term as a member of the Peoria Civic Center
8Commission; he was re-appointed to the Peoria Civic Center
9Authority in 1990; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dr. Glover was elected to the Peoria City Council
11as a councilman at large, serving from 1991 to 1999; he was
12appointed as mayor pro-tem in 1996; after choosing not to run
13for re-election, he was appointed to the Riverfront Commission
14in 1999; he was also appointed to the Railroad Commission and
15was involved with the Peoria Park District Rail-to-Trail
16Project; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Dr. Glover was preceded in death by his first
18wife, Rosalie; his parents; and his brother, Thomas Edward Jr.;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Dr. Glover is survived by his wife, Jane; his
21daughters, Linda (Steven) Ista, Victoria Glover, and Patricia
22(Josh) Pitcher; his stepdaughters, Kay (Jon) Harwood and Cindy

1(Steve Abel) Youngren; his sister, Dorothy Andereck; his
2grandchildren, Jacob, Amanda, Mikkel, Erek, Aaron, Jami,
3Emily, and Gillian; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces
4and nephews; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Dr. Edward P. "Ed" Glover, and extend our sincere condolences
8to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
9it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Dr. Glover as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
