SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Marva Ann Jones of Peoria, who passed
4away on October 19, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marva Jones was born in Peoria to Edd Lee and
6Gloria C. (Carter) Jones on July 16, 1939; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Marva Jones was an accomplished musician who
8played in several area bands, including the Volcanoes, of which
9she was the last surviving member, and Marva and Soul
10Progressives; she was a singer, songwriter, and recording
11artist; and
 
12    WHEREAS, In addition to her musical talents, Marva Jones
13was an ordained minister and presided over several weddings;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Marva Jones was preceded in death by her parents;
16and her daughter, Endrika Edmonds; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Marva Jones is survived by her daughters, Atasa
18(Jeffery) Summerville and Andreon (Joe) Long; her
19granddaughters, Jentura and Alana Summerville; and her many
20cousins; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Marva Ann Jones and extend our sincere condolences to her
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of marva Jones as an expression of our
8deepest sympathy.
