SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Nancy Hoey Hanson of River Forest, who
4passed away on July 12, 2017, at the age of 77; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson was born to John Joseph and
6Grace Pigott Hoey on April 25, 1940; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson was an active, caring member of
8her faith community, serving as president of the First
9Presbyterian Church of Oak Park Guild; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson devoted her time to bettering
11the lives of those in her neighborhood, especially the children
12of Oak Park and River Forest; she was a member of the board of
13directors of the Oak Park and River Forest Day Nursery and
14helped organize referenda for the River Forest Elementary
15Schools and the Oak Park and River Forest High School; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson was heavily involved in
17philanthropy as a member of the Community Chest of Oak Park and
18River Forest; she served on the Community Chest's Board of
19Governors, as campaign chairman, and as president; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson supported the Art Institute of

1Chicago as a member and then chairman of the board of directors
2of the OPRF Community Associates and as executive chair of the
3executive board of Community Associates; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson served as a member and president
5of the Philanthropic Educational Organization's Oak Park
6Chapter BI, which promoted educational opportunities for
7women; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson was preceded in death by her
9parents and her brother, John Bartley Hoey; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson is survived by her devoted
11husband of 55 years, David Louis Hanson; her beloved sons, Mark
12Louis (Burch) Hanson and United States Navy Captain Christopher
13John (Catherine) Hanson; her cherished grandchildren, William
14Louis and Edward McCutchen Hanson and Caroline Grace and Chase
15Edward Hanson; and many wonderfully supportive neighbors and
16friends; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Nancy Hoey Hanson, and extend our sincere condolences to her
20family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
