SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Rose A. Jurkovac, who passed away on
4August 20, 2017, at the age of 104; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rose Jurkovac was born in Waukegan to Jacob and
6Mary Smole on September 2, 1912; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Rose Jurkovac was employed by the US Envelope
8Company for 32 years until her retirement in 1976; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Rose Jurkovac was a former member of Mother of God
10Church and Queen of Peace Church; she was active in numerous
11organizations: St. Anne's and St. Joseph KSKJ Lodges, the
12Croatian Fraternal Union of America Lodge 75, the Steel Workers
13Retirees Club, The Pensioners Club of Slovenska Pristava,
14Waukegan/North Chicago Senior Citizens, the Catholic Women's
15Club, the St. Therese Auxiliary, and the AARP Lake County
16Chapter 150; she volunteered for many years with the
17American-Croatian Waukegan Tamburitzans, working as the
18cashier for their Friday night fish fry; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Rose Jurkovac cherished her family and friends and
20had an overwhelming love for animals; a stray dog or cat always
21found a loving home with her; and

1    WHEREAS, Rose Jurkovac was preceded in death by her
2husband, Emil; her parents; her brothers and sisters, Mary,
3John, Sophie, and Frank; and an extended family granddaughter,
4Julie Cobb; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rose Jurkovac is survived by her children, Robert
6Jurkovac, Richard (Pam) Jurkovac, and Carol (Jim) McDonough;
7her grandchildren, Chip (Peggy) Jurkovac, Cindy (John)
8Zucarro, Ronnie (Lisa) Martin, Ryan McDonough, Kyle (Layla)
9McDonough, Nikki (Carmen) Richard, Sandy and Lisa Jurkovac, and
10Chelsey (Carlos) Perez; her extended family grandchildren,
11Jill (Pete) Hernandez, Jim (Kim) McDonough, Steve McDonough,
12Elizabeth Nevill, Anne (Larry) McNally, and Amy McDonough; 32
13great-grandchildren and extended family great-grandchildren;
14and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Rose A. Jurkovac, and extend our sincere condolences to her
18family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Rose Jurkovac as an expression of
22our deepest sympathy.
