SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Peter R. "Pete" Stefanich of Crest Hill,
4who passed away on August 6, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Peter Stefanich was born in Joliet to Peter and
6Anna (Sotlich) Stefanich on August 31, 1923; he worked for the
7United States Post Office and retired after 27 years; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Peter Stefanich served in the United States Army
9during World War II; he fought in battles and campaigns in
10Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe; he
11received several Bronze Star Medals; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Peter Stefanich was a member of Cantigny Post #367
13VFW and KSKJ St. Francis de Sales Lodge #29 of the American
14Slovenian Catholic Union; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Peter Stefanich was preceded in death by his
16parents; his brothers, Matthew, Joseph, Frank, Louis, and
17Edward Stefanich; his sisters, Betty (Charles) DeJule, Mary
18Stefanich, Ann Stefanich, and Catherine (Stan) Merzlock; and
19his brother-in-law, Robert Wolz; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Peter Stefanich is survived by his loving wife,

1Lottie "Yot" (Bernadyn) Stefanich; his sister, Jean Wolz; his
2sisters-in-law, Mary Stefanich, Lillian Stefanich, and Mary
3Ann (George) Mavrin; his many cherished nieces and nephews;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Peter R. "Pete" Stefanich, and extend our sincere condolences
8to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
9it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Peter R. Stefanich as an expression
12of our deepest sympathy.
