SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Karen E. Backes of Marengo, who passed
4away on August 6, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Karen Backes was born in Belvidere to Clinton and
6Ethel (Ham) McKee on November 23, 1947; she graduated from
7Marengo Community High School in 1965 and received her
8associate degree from McHenry County College; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Karen Backes worked at Arnold Engineering for over
1040 years in various departments; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Karen Backes was a member of International
12Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local Lodge
131832, where she served as secretary and treasurer for many
14years; she was an active member of the Marengo United Methodist
15Church, where she took part in Bible study and was a volunteer
16for the Senior Care Network; she was also a member of the TOPS
17Club, Inc. in Marengo; she enjoyed sewing, quilting, and going
18to movies and dinner with friends; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Karen Backes was preceded in death by her husband,
20James Backes, and her brother, James McKee; and

1    WHEREAS, Karen Backes is survived by her sons, Grant and
2Wade Boxleitner; her granddaughter, Denver Boxleitner; her
3brother, Kenneth (Helena) McKee; her sister-in-law, Sandra
4McKee; her nephew, Patrick McKee; and her niece, Jill McKee;
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Karen E. Backes, and extend our sincere condolences to her
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Karen Backes as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
