SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Ruth Helen Johnson Ivantic of Lake
4County, who passed away on May 1, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ruth Ivantic was born in Chicago to Joseph Johnson
6and Anna Mae Wiley on September 13, 1927; she graduated from
7Proviso East High School in Maywood in 1945 and married William
8Ivantic in October of 1950; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ruth Ivantic worked as a secretary for a variety
10of businesses and organizations, including the Pure Oil
11Company, the Deep Freeze Corporation, and the United States
12Veterans' Administration in Downey; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ruth Ivantic was a devoted wife, mother,
14grandmother, and great-grandmother; she loved to care for the
15youngest members of her large extended family; she was known
16for her remarkable skills in the kitchen and could always be
17found cooking up a wonderful new recipe to share with friends
18and family; she traveled with her husband, both domestically
19and abroad, spending winters in Long Key, Florida; she enjoyed
20golf outings with her many friends, playing in three local
21leagues and shooting a hole-in-one in 1991; and

1    WHEREAS, Ruth Ivantic was a member of many clubs and civic
2organizations, including the North Chicago Women's Club and the
3Red Hat Society of Long Key; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Ruth Ivantic was preceded in death by her sister,
5Alice Johnson Gungler, and her brother, Joseph "Bud" Johnson;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Ruth Ivantic is survived by her husband of 66
8years, William; her children, Thomas (Terri) Ivantic, Susan
9(Thomas) Bowling, Elizabeth (Tom) Kneesel, Karen Ivantic, and
10Amy (Alfred) Avakian; 15 grandchildren; five
11great-grandchildren; her sister, Joanne Johnson Yeoman
12Bonwell; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Ruth Helen Johnson Ivantic, and extend our sincere condolences
16to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
17it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Ruth Ivantic as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
