SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Ralph L. McCoy of Moline, who passed away
4on April 30, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ralph McCoy was born in Letts, Iowa to Clarence
6and Delia Goodwin McCoy on July 12, 1926; he served in the
7United States Navy during World War II at age 17 and married
8Muriel Christensen in Moline on April 15, 1947; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ralph McCoy was a locomotive engineer for the
10Chicago, Rock Island, and Pacific Railroad for 45 years and was
11a driver for MetroLINK for eight years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Ralph McCoy enjoyed watching Westerns, going to
13the casino, watching his daughter perform in the Quad City
14Symphony, and eating biscuits and gravy from Flip's Pancake
15House; he was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Chicago Cubs, and
16the Chicago Bears; most of all he enjoyed spending time with
17his family, especially his grandchildren; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Ralph McCoy was preceded in death by his wife,
19Muriel; his sisters, Verna and Wanda; his brother, Glen; and
20his grandson, Jeff VanOteghem; and

1    WHEREAS, Ralph McCoy is survived by his children, Linda
2(Gary) VanOteghem, Robert (Margaret) McCoy, and Lesa (Thomas
3"Tim") Bishop; his grandchildren, Steven and David VanOteghem,
4Daniel McCoy, and Anna Elizabeth Bishop; his
5step-grandchildren, Matthew and Kristen Fitzpatrick, and Sam
6and Jody Fitzpatrick; his great-grandchildren, Alyssa,
7Jessica, Kyle, and Gabriella; his great-great-grandchildren,
8Eden, Lucy, and Avery; and his beloved dog, Trixie; therefore,
9be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Ralph L. McCoy, and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Ralph McCoy as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
