SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Reverend Robert Baxter "Bobby" Evans Sr.
4of Waukegan, who passed away at the age of 77; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Reverend Evans was born in Waukegan to Raymond J.
6Sr. and Willie Lee Evans on March 3, 1940; he graduated from
7Waukegan High School in 1958 and married Trudy Joyce Barber on
8March 4, 1961; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Reverend Evans had a successful career at United
10Insurance Company of America for 25 years; he was also First
11Ward Alderman for the City of Waukegan for 21 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Reverend Evans was a member of the First
13Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as clerk,
14trustee, and member of the ministerial staff; he was
15affectionately known as "Dad", "Uncle Bob", and "Mayor of the
16Southside"; he will always be known as the voice of the African
17American community in the City of Waukegan; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Reverend Evans was preceded in death by his wife
19of 55 years, Trudy; his parents; his sisters, Vera Evans,
20Dorothy Fields, Nora Jean Evans, and Patricia Edwards; and his
21brothers, Dale Evans, Raymond J. Evans Jr., Dewayne Evans, and

1Jimmy Sims; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Reverend Evans is survived by his children, Rhonda
3L. Evans, Robert B. (Joanne) Evans Jr., Rochelle M. Evans, and
4Tonia L. (Martin) Yancy; his grandchildren, Dontae Uzzle,
5Darnell Uzzle, William D. Longmire, William (LaShonda) Gipson
6Sr., Shantelle M. Evans, ShaRhonda L. Evans, Shaneka N. Price,
7Robert B. Evans III, Adam L. Evans Sr., Patrice A. Sims, David
8E. Daniels, Richard B. (Sade) Dantzler Jr., Richelle M.
9(Xavier) Kelley, Jaki L. Turner, and Gordon L. Brown; 29
10great-grandchildren; his sisters, Bette M. Thomas, Juanita L.
11Brown, Joice E. Evans, Missouri Meyers, and Estella M. Evans;
12his bothers, Daniel L. Evans Sr. and James E. Evans Sr.; and a
13host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren; therefore,
14be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Reverend Robert Baxter "Bobby" Evans Sr., and extend our
18sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
19and loved him; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Reverend Evans as an expression of
22our deepest sympathy.
