SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Sylvia Mae Cooper, who passed away on
4February 16, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sylvia Cooper was born to Michael and Anna
6Weinstein Hirschberg on November 23, 1926 and grew up in Gary,
7Indiana; she attended nursing school and married Paul N.
8Cooper; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Sylvia Cooper opened a nursery school and day care
10center in McHenry, Cooper Kiddie College; she turned a small
11babysitting job in her basement into a thriving day care
12business for over 27 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, After retirement, Sylvia Cooper and her husband
14spent many years traveling around the United States in their
15motor home; she enjoyed teaching children how to swim, spending
16time with her dogs, eating ice cream topped with Bailey's Irish
17Cream, taking long walks in Glacial Park, and spending her
18winters in Orlando, Florida; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Sylvia Cooper was preceded in death by her parents
20and her brother, Robert Hirschberg; and

1    WHEREAS, Sylvia Cooper is survived by her husband of over
260 years, Paul; her children, Mark Steven (Gail) Cooper, Dave
3(Noriko) Cooper, Phil (Kathleen) Cooper, Annette (Herb)
4Johnson, and Michele (Scott) Reiser; her grandchildren, Lori
5(Edward Jr. - Ken) Cooper McKendree, Kevin Cooper, Stephanie
6Cooper, Alan (Erina) Cooper, James Cooper, Jane Cooper, Phillip
7(Andrea) Cooper Jr., Sarah (James) Strzalka, Mikael Johnson,
8Trevor (Jessie) Johnson, Joseph Reiser, Amy Reiser, and Ashley
9Reiser; and her great-grandchildren, Eddie and Lana McKendree,
10Rachael, Faith, and Isaiah Vela, Tyson, Paxton, and Gavin
11Cooper, Ethan Demers, and Brinleigh and Makenna Johnson;
12therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Sylvia Mae Cooper, and extend our sincere condolences to her
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Sylvia Cooper as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
