SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Chris R. Stevens, a 50-year resident of
4Lake Forest, who passed away on December 28, 2016 at the age of
567; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Chris Stevens was born in Evanston; she attended
7elementary schools at Saints Faith, Hope & Charity in Winnetka,
8and the School of St. Mary in Lake Forest; she graduated from
9Lake Forest High School in 1967, and Barat College in 1971 with
10a degree in sociology; she had the opportunity to spend her
11junior year of high school in South Korea, where she made many
12friendships that have lasted through the years and where she
13was also a cheerleader for EASCOM; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Following graduation, Chris Stevens began a long
15and fulfilling career of service with Lake County CETA/Private
16Industry Council leading to her role as Director for Job
17Placement and Training; her care and concern for the well-being
18of others was also shared through years of volunteer efforts
19with United Way of Lake County where she served as Treasurer;
20and
 
21    WHEREAS, Chris Stevens was known for her outstanding
22cooking skills and the beautiful results of her gardening; she

1spent summers boating on Lake Michigan where she could kick
2back and read or catch up with friends; her love of water took
3her scuba diving and fishing in the Florida Keys; one of her
4prize catches was a 54 inch 45 pound Barracuda; her ultimate
5love was time spent with family but most especially the deep
6love she shared with her husband, Scott, and their son, Paul;
7her laughter, sense of fun, concern for others, and honesty
8will be sorely missed; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Chris Stevens was preceded in death by her
10parents, Paul and Madelyn Reitz; and her father-in-law, John
11Stevens; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Chris Stevens is survived by her husband of over
1343 years, Scott Stevens; her son, Paul (Tara) Stevens; her
14grandchildren, Jake and Parker Stevens; her sisters Debbie and
15Diane Reitz; her mother-in-law, Bev Stevens; her
16sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Peggy Hendershot, Mike
17Stevens, Lyn (Curt) Drathring, and Ole (Sonya) Stevens; and
18many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
21family and friends, mourn the passing of Chris R. Stevens, and
22extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all
23who knew and loved her; and be it further
