SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Thomas E. "Tom" Keating of Streamwood,
4who passed away on December 17, 2016 at the age of 53; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Thomas Keating was born in Chicago to Thomas J.
6and Carole (Gildea) Keating on March 13, 1963; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Thomas Keating, a 30-year resident of Streamwood,
8was first elected to the Streamwood Park District Board in
92001; he was re-elected in 2005, 2009, and 2013; he served 16
10years as President, and was most recently serving as Vice
11President; during his time at the Board, he was the initiator
12of the District's; "SPDCares" vision; he brought his financial
13expertise as a certified public accountant to the board, and he
14took a leadership role in developing its 15-year capital
15improvement plan, which was made possible by frugal spending
16and careful planning; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Thomas Keating, the
18Streamwood Park District twice earned the Illinois
19Distinguished Agency designation for professional and quality
20policies, practices, and administration; the District twice
21earned the AA- Bond Rating from Standard & Poor's for financial
22planning, management, and stability; in 2015, he was recognized

1by the Illinois Association of Park Districts for his 15 years
2of service; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Thomas Keating was described as a "kid at heart"
4who "knew the value of play and wanted the community to have a
5chance to play and have fun", and will be long remembered for
6his "compassion, humor, and love of proofreading"; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Thomas Keating was the beloved husband and high
8school sweetheart of Diane (Smentek); the loving father of
9Alex, Austin, Riley, and the late Ryan; the cherished son of
10Thomas J. and Carole (Gildea); the caring brother of Darlene
11(Brian) McDermott, Kathy (Jeff) Jarr, Kim (Dave) Ehrhardt, Lori
12(Michael) Brosman, and Michael (Cecille); and the fond uncle to
13many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Thomas E. "Tom" Keating, and extend our sincere condolences to
17his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Thomas Keating as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
