SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Valeria M. (Buss) Scarbrough of McHenry,
4who passed away on December 23, 2016 at the age of 76; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Valeria Scarbrough was born in Chicago to Leon F.
6and Florence B. (Baranski) Buss on January 29, 1940; she
7married George Scarbrough in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 7, 1999;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Valeria Scarbrough lived in Wonder Lake from 1952
10until moving to the McCullom Lake area of McHenry in 1964; she
11worked as a secretary for the McHenry County Sheriff's
12department for 13 years, retiring in December of 1989; for
13eight years, she was also a waitress at the former Whale's Tail
14restaurant in McHenry; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Valeria Scarbrough was a member of The Church of
16Holy Apostles in McHenry; she was a former member of St.
17Patrick's Church in McHenry; for a number of years in the
181970s, she was also a member of the McCullom Lake Beach Gals;
19she enjoyed reading, scrapbooking, gardening, and traveling;
20and
 
21    WHEREAS, Valeria Scarbrough was preceded in death by her

1parents; her brothers, Leon and Jim Mulholland; and her
2brother-in-law, Al Krepel; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Valeria Scarbrough is survived by her husband,
4George Scarbrough; her six children, Laura (Fred) O'Halleran,
5Ramona Bitterman, Kathleen (Michael) McDow, Daniel Bitterman,
6Deborah (John) Rothlisberger, and Angela (Shaun) Kirkwood; her
7grandchildren, Autumn and Alec O'Halleran, Christopher
8Bitterman, Justes, Bradlee, and Rachael McDow, Hailey
9Bitterman, Nicholas Larsen, Rebecca Rothlisberger, and Alexis
10Lowitzki; her five great-grandchildren; her stepchildren,
11Sherry (Earl) Hucker, and Steven Scarbrough; her
12step-grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, and Nicholas; her
13sisters, Kathleen Krepel, Tootsie Buss, Carol (Bob Beyer),
14Rosemary Schaefer, and Hattie (Dennis) Kozicki; her brothers,
15Robert (Dodi) Buss, Bernard (Jan) Buss, Charles (Wilma) Buss,
16Gerard (Nancy) Buss, David Buss, Dominic Buss, and Peter
17(Carol) Buss; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
20family and friends, mourn the passing of Valeria Scarbrough,
21and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and
22all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
23    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
