SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jean K. Wehrli, who passed away on
4December 12, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jean Wehrli was born to Judge Win and Irene Knoch
6on December 6, 1928; she attended Saints Peter and Paul Grade
7School and Naperville High School, where she graduated in 1946;
8she attended the College of Saint Teresa in Winona, Minnesota,
9and completed her studies at the University of Illinois
10Urbana-Champaign, where she was a member of the Kappa Delta
11Sorority, Sigma Omicron Chapter; she married Don Wehrli on
12April 19, 1952; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jean Wehrli taught high school English in Forrest;
14she then returned to Naperville, where she was a proofreader at
15Argonne National Laboratory; she later served on the first
16Naperville Arts Commission and the Naperville Park District
17Skateboard Park Committee; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jean Wehrli enjoyed photography, reading, garage
19and estate sales, lectures and concerts, outings, and her book
20group; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Jean Wehrli was a proud member of the Wehrli

1Out-Laws, which included Lorraine (Bob), Bev (Bob), Wally
2(Marge), Ginny (Jim), Bettye (Jim), Dorothy (Joe), Calista,
3Audra (Mike), Bob (Jean), Virginia (John "Harp"), Joe (Joyce),
4Judy (Dick), Jerry (Carol), and Bob (Ann); she was a
5thoughtfully prepared participant in Grandma (Gertrude)
6Wehrli's annual family beach picnics and Christmas Eve parties;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Jean Wehrli was preceded in death by her parents
9and her husband, Don Wehrli; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jean Wehrli is survived by her sisters, Marjorie
11Knoch Schaller, Doris Knoch Wood, and Joanne (Jim) Knoch
12Strong; her children, Mary Lou (Herb), Win (Deborah), Fred
13(Anne), Jill, Francie, Annette, and Illinois State
14Representative Grant (Sharon); her grandchildren, Sarah, Megan
15(Travis), Lauren (Josh), Michelle (Aaron), Dana, Michael
16(Colleen), Austin, Elizabeth, Kayla, Colette, Jack, Jake, Joe,
17and Luke; and her great-grandchildren, Emma, Benjamin, and
18Harper; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Jean K. Wehrli, and extend our sincere condolences to her
22family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
