SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 2605/2605-433 new
55 ILCS 5/3-6015.5 new
65 ILCS 5/11-1-2.2 new
325 ILCS 5/7.4b new

    Amends the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act. Provides that law enforcement officers, in an effort to assist the Department of Children and Family Services in child protective investigations in its response to reports of child abuse or neglect, must, upon request of a child protection investigator, accompany the child protection investigator. Provides that it is the responsibility of the accompanying officer to accompany the child protection investigator to any other police jurisdiction that is outside the accompanying officer's primary jurisdiction. Amends the Department of State Police Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois, the Counties Code, and the Illinois Municipal Code making conforming changes.

1    AN ACT concerning children.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Department of State Police Law of the Civil
5Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by adding Section
62605-433 as follows:
 
7    (20 ILCS 2605/2605-433 new)
8    Sec. 2605-433. Child protection investigator assistance.
9State police officers must, upon request, assist a child
10protection investigator as provided in Section 7.4b of the
11Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act.
 
12    Section 10. The Counties Code is amended by adding Section
133-6015.5 as follows:
 
14    (55 ILCS 5/3-6015.5 new)
15    Sec. 3-6015.5. Child protection investigator assistance.
16Deputies, auxiliary officers, or county corrections officers
17must, upon request, assist a child protection investigator as
18provided in Section 7.4b of the Abused and Neglected Child
19Reporting Act.
 
20    Section 15. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by

1adding Section 11-1-2.2 as follows:
 
2    (65 ILCS 5/11-1-2.2 new)
3    Sec. 11-1-2.2. Child protection investigator assistance.
4Police officers must, upon request, assist a child protection
5investigator as provided in Section 7.4b of the Abused and
6Neglected Child Reporting Act.
 
7    Section 20. The Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act is
8amended by adding Section 7.4b as follows:
 
9    (325 ILCS 5/7.4b new)
10    Sec. 7.4b. Law enforcement investigation assistance. Law
11enforcement officers, in an effort to assist the Department in
12child protective investigations in its response to reports of
13child abuse or neglect, must, upon request of a child
14protection investigator, accompany the child protection
15investigator. It is the responsibility of the accompanying
16officer to accompany the child protection investigator to any
17other police jurisdiction that is outside the accompanying
18officer's primary jurisdiction. As used in this Section, "law
19enforcement officer" has the meaning given to that term in
20Section 5 of the Infectious Disease Testing Act.
