| 1 | | AN ACT concerning children.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Intergovernmental Missing Child Recovery |
| 5 | | Act of 1984 is amended by adding Section 7.2 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (325 ILCS 40/7.2 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 7.2. Report of missing child under 18 years of age; |
| 8 | | information. |
| 9 | | (a) At the time of first contact with an individual making |
| 10 | | a report of a missing child who is under 18 years of age, the |
| 11 | | local law enforcement agency shall provide the individual with |
| 12 | | information, the contents of which shall be prepared by the |
| 13 | | Office of the Attorney General and posted on its website, that |
| 14 | | includes, but is not limited to, the following: |
| 15 | | (1) The 24-hour toll-free telephone numbers for: |
| 16 | | (A) the National Center for Missing and Exploited |
| 17 | | Children; and |
| 18 | | (B) the National Runaway Safeline. |
| 19 | | (2) A description of the services provided to families |
| 20 | | of missing children by the National Center for Missing and |
| 21 | | Exploited Children and the National Runaway Safeline. |
| 22 | | (b) The information required under subsection (a) may be |
| 23 | | provided by the local law enforcement agency in a format that |
