HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to honor our esteemed colleague,
4State Representative Carol Sente, on over nine years as a
5member of the Illinois General Assembly and thank her for her
6dedicated service to her State and her community; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Rep. Sente grew up in Glenview; she is the
8daughter of immigrants from Hungary and Austria, the middle
9child of three girls, and proud aunt to her niece and nephew;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Rep. Sente earned a Bachelor of Science from
12Indiana University and has taken master's degree coursework at
13Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Rep. Sente is a small-business owner, former
15managing partner of SRBL Architects, former principal of FGM
16architects, and former vice president of the Vernon Hills Park
17District Board; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Rep. Sente believes that the highest calling in
19life is service to others, a lesson she learned from her
20parents who immigrated to the United States from Eastern Europe
21to seek a better life following the 1956 Hungarian Revolution

1and the devastation of World War II, and it is a principle she
2exemplifies through her volunteerism and public service
3throughout the community; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Rep. Sente has been a courageously independent
5voice and passionate advocate for bipartisan cooperation in the
6General Assembly, leading and organizing efforts to bring
7policymakers from both sides of the aisle together to foster
8commonsense solutions and end the State's record-breaking
9budget impasse; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Rep. Sente served as chairwoman of the Business
11Growths and Incentives Committee and the Environment Committee
12and sponsored and championed landmark legislation to keep
13children and schools safe, foster economic growth, promote
14environmental stewardship, and advocate for first responders;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Rep. Sente served an integral role in the
17formation and leadership of the bipartisan Small Business Owner
18Caucus (SBOC) and co-chaired the Illinois Legislative Fire
19Caucus; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Rep. Sente has been recognized by numerous
21advocacy organizations for her legislative initiatives,
22including the Lake County Underage Drinking and Drug Prevention

1Task Force, the Small Business Advocacy Council, the American
2Institute of Architects, the Illinois Association of Chiefs of
3Police, and the Illinois Association of Fire Protection
4Districts; and
 
5    WHEREAS, All who had the honor to serve alongside Rep.
6Sente will miss her warm friendship and unwavering commitment
7to bringing people together for the betterment of our State;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
11honor and thank State Representative Carol Sente for her years
12of dedicated service; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to Rep. Sente as an expression of our respect and
15esteem and with our best wishes for her future success.
